Good news: 74 million litres of fuel arrive Lagos port

Fuel queue

Relief might be in sight for commuters and indeed all residents of Lagos as the fuel scarcity currently plaguing the state might be nearing its end.
Marketers of fuel in Lagos have said that they have taken delivery of about 74 million litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) at their depots in the state.

The scarcity of the product has seen many commuters stranded at bus stops with transport fares almost doubling.
There has also been overcrowding at petrol stations due to the queues which have also caused an increase in traffic jams around the areas where the stations are situated.
Some stations have taken to selling the product at increased prices with pump prices reaching up to N200 per litre, as against the official N97, and black market hawkers charging up to N300 per litre.
The Executive Secretary of the Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria, Obafemi Olowore  is said to have confirmed the delivery of 74 million litres of PMS.
He said:

“…That gives you a total of 74 million litres of fuel. It is unfortunate that we find ourselves in this situation but everything will ease out this week because we now have products.
“Some of our members would receive their product this weekend while others would receive theirs as from next week. So there is no need for panic buying, no need to hoard fuel and my contact in government has assured us that there is no plan to increase the price.”
