Al-Qaeda: The third generation?

The five-day ultimatum by the leader of Jabaht al-Nusra (al-Nusra front) - Abu Mohammed al-Golani - to the leadership of the  Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL), and other Islamist factions, to end fighting or be "expelled" from the region is the latest in the troubled affair between the two al-Qaida affiliates in Syria.
Since early 2014, "Jabhat al-Nusra", a self-declared al-Qaeda affiliate, sided with the more nationalistic and liberal grouping of Free Syrian Army (FSA) against the relatively more hardline ISIS.
The feud between the two al-Qaeda affiliates, which turned into firece fighting in the past few weeks, reflected a serious ideological rift among al-Qaeda rank and file organisations. Analysts generally agree that of the eight major armed factions in the Syrian opposition, al-Nusra and the ISIS are by far the most prominent. This is hardly due to their relative strength since there are many groups in the Syrian opposition that are much better armed with many more fighters. al-Nusra has no more than 6,000 active members, while ISIS boasts about 7,000 members, out of which only 4,000 engage in actual fighting.
Rather, the notorious image that both al-Nusra and ISIS have acquired over the last year, in both Arab and Western media, is due to their public affiliation with al-Qaeda, and to their strong links with other foreign Jihadist organisations which supply them with fierce fighters and huge funds.
The "criminal atrocities" committed by ISIS, in particular, including abducting, terrorising and forcing civilians and local Islamic groups to swear allegiance (Baya'a) to the organisation have amplified its notoriety.
Wither "Universal Jihad"?
Jabhat al-Nusra fighters, on the other hand, are said to enjoy a reputation for firece fighting, and for storming heavily armed Syrian regime military posts and Intelligence facilities. The group has also become known for its widespread aid programmes supplying food and vital services to the impoverished, war-weary Syrian population.
Although both groups have publicly declared their loyalty to al-Qaeda, the differences between them on the ground, sharp enough to have erupted in a bloody armed conflict in Syria recently, underscore a wider ideological rift.
The very concept of al-Qaeda - of the universal Jihad - is crumbling. More precisely, what's coming to an end is the co-existence  - within this concept - between the classic model set by Osama bin Laden on the one hand, and on the other, the decentralised model defended by Ayman al-Zawahiri and, more significantly in the Syrian case, Abu Mus'ab Al-Suri.
In fact, the theories of Zawahiri and Abu Mus'ab in this field, which sanction every country to have its own version of al-Qaeda, and which encourage the local culture to generate its own convenient al-Qaeda structures and fighting tactics and strategies, is hitting hard at the ideological heart of al-Qaeda itself. This might even hamper al-Qaeda's ability to function on the ground.
Al-Qaeda's successive generations
"The World Front for Fighting Jews and Crusaders" was formed in 1988. In the same year, the first generation of fighters inaugurated al-Qaeda's massive operations by staging the Nairobi and Dar al-Salam bombings. These early years were characterised by al-Qaeda's emphasis on the global dimension of Jihad (targeting the distant enemy). Most Bin Laden speeches -  in this era - focused on fomenting Muslim enmity towards the United States. In fact, analysts noted that 70 percent of his speeches targeted the West. Equally importantly, the era was characterised by the stable central command structures al-Qaeda had in Afghanistan where it supervised several Jihadist training centres.
The second al-Qaeda generation came to the scene in 2003, following the US-led invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq. That phase was marked by effective US action to tighten the noose on al-Qaeda leadership and central command structures in Afghanistan and Pakistan, which resulted in the mushrooming of al-Qaeda-linked Jihadist networks with independent regional command centres in Iraq, Yemen and the Islamic Maghreb. Abu Mus'ab al-Suri was one of the most vociferous supporters of a decentralised al-Qaeda command structure, as his book The Call for Islamic Resistance (2004) clearly shows.
The al-Qaeda central command did not disapprove of the emergence of new sub-branches and regional commands. Much more so than Bin Laden, Zawahiri was inclined to focus on the regional struggle in the Arab world (the nearby enemy) rather than the West (the distant enemy). He was also keen that "each country has its own version of al-Qaeda".
This second al-Qaeda generation was more ferocious and militant. It developed new operational techniques in which attacks were carried out by small groups or - in some cases - even individuals. It established regional "emirates" through which it directed Jihadists fighting closer to their native conflict zones. It also legitimised the killing of civilians, in Iraq but also in the bombing waves that targeted Riyadh residential compounds, Amman hotels, and Morocco cafes. Hence, the increased hostility towards al-Qaeda shown by Arab and Islamic nations, and al-Qaeda's failure to gain grassroot support in many regions. No wonder Bin Laden wrote his famous "Message on the Iraqi Issue" (2007), in which he apologised for al-Qaeda extremism in Iraq and condemned "the ease with which it killed people".
Al-Qaeda's third generation
Al-Qaeda went through its worst period ever in the years 2009-2011. The beginning of the Arab Spring shook the organisation's fundamental ideological belief in violence as the means to topple dictatorial regimes. The subsequent momentum generated by the Arab Spring, driving people en masse to the ballot boxes and thus effecting political change by moderately peaceful means, was a further setback to al-Qaeda's bloody revolutionary ideology. In the same period, the sudden death of Osama bin Laden was a severe blow both to the organisation's regional networks and central command.
The course charted by the Arab Spring, however, yielded some tragic results in Libya, Yemen and Syria. Al-Qaeda was quick to profit from the ensuing power vacuum. The new conflict zones gave al-Qaeda enough room to regroup, reform and reclaim centre stage.
In the Syrian case, the Jihadist movements were not interested in the uprising when it first broke out, since it opted for what al-Qaeda dismissively called "the same peaceful course of the Arab revolutions… and the same democratic ends."
The gradual militarisation of the Syrian Uprising in early 2012 encouraged Jihadist movements to engage in the fighting on religious grounds. The subsequent brutality of the Syrian regime, and the absence of any international measures or intervention to deter it or reign in its violence, prompted the Syrian people to turn a blind eye to the "Jihadist project", which has only one thing in common with the objectives of the uprising: Opposing the regime of Bashar al-Assad.
In due course, the Jihadist movement turned from an "unwanted party" in the initial stages to an "active" and even "welcomed" partner in the fight against the regime. It is worth noting here that the Jihadist movements were not alien to the Syrian environment. Its proximity to US-occupied Iraq made Syria "a terrorist attraction spot". The Syrian regime itself, intent on keeping US forces busy fighting al-Qaeda so as not to consider invading Syria, had in fact provided a safe passageway for Jihadists into Iraq.
The rise of al-Nusra Front
In June 2011, in the course of the Syrian uprising, Jihadists showed up openly for the first time in Aleppo. In January 2012, the formation of al-Nusra Front was publicly announced by its top official, Abu Mohammed Al-Golani. al-Nusra was not similar to other Jihadist movements in its structure, sources of funding or fighting techniques. It can be seen as the practical application of what might be called the "renewal" of Jihadist thinking propagated by Abu Mus'ab Al-Suri in his book "The Call for Islamic Resistance".
Golani did not announce the formation of an Islamic Emirate or "state" as did other Jihadist movements in Iraq and North Mali. Rather, he set up a broad front for Jihadists to fight the Syrian regime. Other major differences from traditional Jihadist movements include the emphasis al-Nusra laid on "deterring the oppressor and resisting the aggressor", whereas other Jihadist movements sought to overthrow incumbent governments then establish the Islamic Caliphate.
For instance, ISIS used to demand that residents and groups in the areas under its control swear allegiance (Baya'a) to its Emir, Abu Baker al-Baghdadi. Conversely, Golani never called himself Emir and went by the title "General Official of the (al-Nusra) Front".
Jabhat al-Nusra also provided widespread relief aid and services to civilians, maintained good relations with the local community, and avoided any provocations. It further cooperated with the majority of Syrian fighting groups, without demanding their allegiance or asking them to join the group. This enabled al-Nusra front to make inroads and spread its influence to the local community. It avoided military confrontations with other groups in the opposition (with very few exceptions, as in the limited confrontation with Al-Farouq Brigade).
Thus, in a short period of time, al-Nusra Front was able to spread its influence across Syria so much so that it became the most prominent  fighting force against the regime. Such public acceptance explains the opposition many factions in the Syrian uprising have shown to the December 2012 decision by the US to put Al-Nusra on the list of terrorist organisations.
However, this should not be taken to mean that  al-Nusra did not commit crimes and human rights violations. In fact, it committed various violations, like executing prisoners from the official army (May, June, and September, 2012). Also, al-Nusra detained activists in some incidents for the simple reason of raising the flag of the Syrian revolution instead of al-Nusra's.

10 Tips For Building The Relationship Of Your Dreams

10 Tips For Building The Relationship Of Your Dreams
Tips for turning new, premarital or broken, into successful relationships.

How many of us have learned how to build loving relationships? Where did we learn? At home? At school? There is an art and science to building strong relationships. These indispensable tips were written with romantic relationships in mind, but with a little modification you can apply them to your friendships, family and even work relationships.
1. Create a safe environment where you can trust and share openly without being afraid: Don’t interrupt, even if you need to put your hand over your mouth to stop yourself. Learn to fight fairly. No name calling. Don’t make threats. Apologize when you know you should. If you’re too angry to really listen, stop! Go into another room, take space for yourself, breathe, and “calm down.” Remember: your partner is not the enemy. 2. Separate the facts from the feelings:What beliefs and feelings get triggered in you during conflicts? Ask yourself: Is there something from my past that is influencing how I’m seeing the situation now? The critical question you want to ask: Is this about him or her, or is it really about me? What’s the real truth? Once you’re able to differentiate facts from feelings, you’ll see your partner more clearly and be able to resolve conflicts from clarity. 3. Connect with the different parts of yourself: Each of us is not a solo instrument. We’re more like a choir or an orchestra with several voices. What is your mind saying? What is your heart saying? What is your body saying? What is your ‘gut’ saying? For example: My mind is saying ‘definitely leave her,’ but my heart says ‘I really love her.’ Let these different voices or parts of you co-exist and speak to one another. In this way, you will find an answer that comes from your whole self.
4. Develop Compassion: Practice observing yourself and your partner without judging. Part of you might judge, but you don’t have to identify with it. Judging closes a door. The opposite of judging is compassion. When you are compassionate, you are open, connected, and more available to dialoging respectfully with your partner. As you increasingly learn to see your partner compassionately, you will have more power to choose your response rather than just reacting. 5. Create a “we” that can house two “I’s”: The foundation for a thriving, growing, mutually-supportive relationship is to be separate and connected. In co-dependentrelationships, each person sacrifices part of him or her self, compromising the relationship as a whole. When you are separate and connected, each individual “I” contributes to the creation of a “we” that is stronger than the sum of its parts.
6. Partner, heal thyself: Don’t expect your partner to fill your emotional holes, and don’t try to fill theirs. Ultimately, each of us can only heal ourselves. Your partner, however, can be supportive as you work with yourself, and vice versa. In fact, living in a loving relationship is healing in and of itself.
7. Relish the differences between you: The differences between you and your partner are not negatives. You don’t need to be with someone who shares all of your interests and views. We may sometimes fear that these differences are incompatibilities, but in fact, they’re often what keeps a relationship exciting and full of good fire. 8. Ask questions: All too often, we make up our own stories or interpretations about what our partners’ behavior means. For example: “She doesn’t want to cuddle; she must not really love me anymore.” We can never err on the side of asking too many questions, and then listen to the answers from your whole self — heart, gut, mind and body. Equally important is to hear what’s not being said — the facts and feeling that you sense might be unspoken.
9. Make time for your relationship: No matter who you are or what your work is, you need to nurture your relationship. Make sure you schedule time for the well-being of your relationship. That includes making “playdates” and also taking downtime together. Frequently create a sacred space together by shutting off all things technological and digital. Like a garden, the more you tend to your relationship, the more it will grow. 4 Steps To Finding Love [VIDEO] 10. Say the “hard things” from love: Become aware of the hard things that you’re not talking about. How does that feel? No matter what you’re feeling in a situation, channel the energy of your emotions so that you say what you need to say in a constructive manner.

Punch reports:

The Commissioner of Police, Mr. Umar Gwadabe, said on Tuesday that Akpan operated the baby factory under the guise of running a religious organisation, Jubilant Garden Ministries.
He explained that Akpan accommodated teenage ladies and young men for the purpose of raising babies for sale and human trafficking.
He said, “Following an intelligence report, which was monitored by the State Criminal Investigation Department operatives, a woman, Prophetess Grace Akpan, was arrested about 4am on High Tension Street, by Four Lane, Edet Akpan Avenue, Uyo.
“The woman was arrested for operating a baby factory under the guise of a religious organisation called Jubilant Garden Ministries, where teenagers and young men were housed for the sole purpose of raising babies for sale and human trafficking.
“In view of some reported cases of child stealing and abduction of children in the state, we have resolved to act decisively by arresting these criminals. They will soon appear in court to serve as deterrent to others.”
The girls are Blessing Paul, 14 (pregnant); Patience Etim, 17 (pregnant); Margaret Effiong, 20 (pregnant); Emmanuelle Effiong, 18 (pregnant); and Esther Effiong, 21, who has a male child, Unos Effiong (1 year).
The male suspects are Ndifreke Umana, 31; Ezekiel Umana, 29; Godstime Johnson, 18, and Ukeme Etim, 20.
The police urged the residents of the state to cooperate with the police by giving useful information that would help in stamping out lawlessness and disorder.
However, the prophetess told PUNCH Metro that the pregnant girls were married and were brought to the church by their parents for spiritual assistance.
She said, “They (the police) said people told them that I have so many pregnant women in my care and that they don’t know the reason.
“For goodness’ sake, I am a trained birth attendant. I have a certificate from St. Louis Hospital.
“The pregnant women were brought to the church by their parents, who saw that their problems could only be resolved spiritually.
“Some had swollen legs, some of them were bleeding before their parents brought them to us. Some of them were brought to the church by their husbands.”
Paul, the 14-year-old pregnant teenager, said she was married, adding that her husband brought her to the church.
The teenage girl, however, did not know the name of her husband when PUNCH Metro asked her to mention his name.

It was gathered that after the incident, the couple and their neighbours confronted the naval officer, who resides in Ojo Navy barracks, insisting that he must pay for the damages but he reportedly snubbed them after identifying himself as a naval personnel.
The situation took another dimension few minutes later as the wife of the Police officer rushed to Kirikiri Police division to lodge a complaint.
While there, a hot argument ensued between the Naval officer and the Police inspector who was said to have also identified himself.
Eyewitnesses told Vanguard that in the course of the argument, the Naval officer brought out his car key which he poked into the right eye of the Police inspector after which he sped off in his car.

Mohler returns to BYU, says Mormons, evangelicals 'may go to jail together' sooner than he thought

Four months ago, Albert Mohler spoke at BYU and said Mormons and evangelicals "may go to jail together" defending religious liberty.
The president of the flagship Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, Mohler returned to the flagship Mormon university on Tuesday to deliver a nationally televised speech and said, "We may go to jail sooner even than we thought" in what he called "the age of the advanced meltdown" of traditional values.
Mohler spoke energetically at a much-anticipated campus forum assembly that drew 2,731 students, faculty and staff to the Marriott Center. He expressed alarm at the speed of developments since his first visit to BYU in October.
Mohler specifically mentioned separate federal court rulings striking down Utah laws against same-sex marriage and polygamy, as well as a summons issued by a magistrate in a secular court in London seeking the appearance of President Thomas S. Monson, president of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
"This is why our conversation is really important and why we need to stand together on so many urgent concerns," Mohler said. "Most importantly, we are now called to defend religious liberty for each other, so that when they come for you, we are there, and so that when they come for us, you are there. We are learning anew what the affirmation of religious liberty will demand of us in this dangerous age."
Mohler again mentioned friendships he has developed with LDS apostles. In his two BYU speeches he now has mentioned Elder L. Tom Perry, Elder Dallin H. Oaks, Elder Quentin L. Cook and Elder D. Todd Christofferson.
"I am glad to know these men as friends," Mohler said Tuesday. "We face many challenges, and we face many of those challenges together."
Mohler structured his speech around challenges to human dignity, human rights and human flourishing.
"I come (to BYU) in what can only be described as a dangerous moment for us all and for the culture and civilization we commonly love," he said. "The most fundamental values of civilization itself are threatened, and we are witnesses to one of the most comprehensive and fast-paced moral revolutions ever experienced by humanity. The velocity and breadth of this revolution are breathtaking, and the consequences are yet incalculable. This society is dismantling the very structures that have allowed for the enjoyment and preservation of human liberty and respect for life. We are engaged in a head-long effort to replace the convictions that gave birth to democracy and ordered liberty with a new set of convictions that will lead to the emergence of a very different culture, society and civilization. We cannot pretend that this is not happening. We cannot delude ourselves into believing that it will not matter."
Mohler said the meltdown of values is explained by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn's statement that “Men have forgotten God.” He argued that unless human dignity is rooted in a belief that mankind is created in God's image, it cannot survive as a concept.
Similarly, he said, "The affirmation of human rights is claimed to be the great moral achievement of the modern age. But this affirmation was based in the belief that those rights belong to every human being by virtue of divine creation. How can those rights survive when the foundation is destroyed?"
"There is no secular ground," he added, "that can support and defend human rights."
Finally, Mohler addressed human flourishing, which he described as human development, liberty, enterprise, happiness and fulfillment. The key to human flourishing, he said, is family and marriage, which he defined as "the lasting, monogamous union of a man and a woman."
"Every other structure, from government to schools to corporations to volunteer organizations stands upon the foundation of marriage and the family, and no structure can fully replace what is absent if the family fails or if marriage is not fully respected," he said.

LDS woman finds half-sister through Ancestry.com after 60 years of separation

Carol B. Moss was ready to know the truth.
More than 60 years ago, Moss was placed for adoption. She was raised in a wonderful family and has lived a happy life. But something was missing.
“As an adopted child, you always want to know where you come from, who you are,” said Moss, who is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
At the same time in Georgia and other locations along the East Coast, Amy Starin Woodrick and her siblings knew they had a half-sister, but no way to find her.
Then through a series of timely events, the two women found each other by posting their family trees on Ancestry.com. They met for the first time four months ago and recently attended the RootsTech Family History and Technology Conference in Salt Lake City together.
“It’s been nothing but comfortable, so natural,” Moss said. “This fills in something that’s been missing my whole life. There is something very powerful about having natural relationships.”
Moss was born in Pittsburgh and placed for adoption through Catholic Social Services. She knew from a young age that she was adopted and has always felt she was meant to be in her adopted family. She had some non-identifying information about her birth parents, but didn’t begin searching for her birth parents until her adopted mother died.
“I knew she would not appreciate me wanting to know who they were. She raised me and I respected that until she passed away,” Moss said. “It was a sensitive topic for her.”
A few years ago, Moss, a family historian of almost 40 years, was able to work through the Pennsylvania court system and finally obtain the identities of her birth parents. She immediately went on Ancestry.com and found pictures. She also discovered an obituary that said her mother had died in 2000 and was survived by four children, one brother and three sisters. Moss wanted to reach out to her half-siblings but wasn’t sure how.
“I didn’t want to call and introduce myself because (if they didn’t know about me) I didn’t want them to think any less of their mother,” Moss said. “It would be better if they found me. The best thing I could think of was to put myself on a tree and let them find me.”
Meanwhile in Georgia, Woodrick’s husband had persuaded her to post her family tree information, including several photos.
Five years earlier, a relative had finally revealed a big family secret to the siblings — that their mother had placed a child for adoption before marrying their father. Woodrick, the youngest sibling of the four, had always wanted to find this older sibling, but had zero information.
“They kept that secret for 60 years,” Woodrick said. “We were never supposed to know.”
As she uploaded photos to her tree, she noticed a person named “Carol” had taken copies of the photos. As she examined closer, she saw the name and remembered the lost sibling.
“I didn't recognize the name 'Carol.' Then I realized that her mom is my mom, and I’m like, 'Wait a minute,'” Woodrick said. “'My gosh, this must be our half-sister.' It was amazing.”
Woodrick wrote a message to Moss: “I noticed that you’ve been using our mother’s picture. We learned five years ago that our mother had a daughter before she met our father. Would you be that daughter? If so, I’d like to correspond with you.”
Moss responded, and the rest is family history.
“I felt it was inspired. It was the way it needed to happen. The fact that they already knew about me was really great; they were prepared,” Moss said. “The timing of it all just seems amazing.”

Students killed in Nigeria school attack

Suspected Boko Haram fighters opened fire on secondary school students as they slept in a dormitory in Nigeria's northeastern Yobe state, the military said.
Casualty figures from the attack in the town of Buni Yadi, roughly 60km from the state capital Damaturu, were not immediately available but scores of students have been killed in similar attacks in the state in the last year.
The military spokesman in Yobe, Lazarus Eli, said the raid occurred at 2am (0100 GMT) at the town's Federal Government College, a school for students aged 11 to 18.
The gunmen "opened fire on student hostels", Eli said.
"Details are still sketchy due to lack of telephone access and it is still not clear how many students were affected in the attack," he added.
The name Boko Haram means "Western education is forbidden" and the rebels have carried out waves of attacks at schools across the north during their four-and-a-half year insurgency.
At least 40 students were killed in September at an agriculture training college in the Yobe town of Gujba in September after Boko Haram gunmen stormed a series of dorms in the middle of the night and sprayed gunfire on sleeping students.
Yobe is one of three northeastern states which was placed under emergency rule in May last year when the military launched a massive operation to crush the Boko Haram uprising.
More than 1,000 people have been killed in the region since the emergency measures were imposed, despite the enhanced military presence.
Boko Haram, declared a terrorist organisation by Nigeria and the United States, has said it is fighting to create an Islamic state in Nigeria's mainly Muslim north

Leavitt: Romney backs Count My Vote initiative

Mike Leavitt, former governor of Utah, confirmed Sunday that Mitt Romney has thrown his support behind the Count My Vote effort to bring a primary election system to Utah.
In an email dated Feb. 19, addressed to Leavitt and obtained by KSL, Romney says, "I want to tell you Ann and I are supporters," he tells Leavitt, one of the organizers of the Count My Vote effort.
Romney writes he has been "pushing hard" for states to move to direct primaries since the most recent election.
"Convention/caucus systems exclude so many people," the email reads. "They rarely produce a result that reflects how rank and file Republicans feel. I think that's true for Democrats, too."
Count My Vote is an initiative drive calling for direct primary elections in Utah. If enough signatures are gathered for the issue to be placed on the ballot in November and it passes, it would do away with the current caucus/convention system of picking candidates.
The email also indicates former GOP presidential candidate Romney feels the Utah Legislature "shouldn't interfere" with the effort to put the issue to a vote.
Leavitt, contacted Sunday, confirmed receipt of the email.
"I think Utahns respect Mitt Romney, and I think Mitt Romney feels like most Utahns do, that the Legislature needs to respect the opportunity for voters to vote on something as important as how we elect … our public officials," Leavitt said.
This is not the first time Romney has made statements about favoring primaries over caucuses. In November, the former Massachusetts governor told the Boston Globe he was concerned the caucus system could end up with "a minority deciding who the nominee ought to be. And I think that would be a mistake," Romney told the Globe.
Revelations of Romney's support comes after supporters of the current caucus/convention system delivered two counter-punches to Count My Vote on Friday: passage of a Senate bill that would nullify some of the key elements of the initiative, and a complaint by Protect Our Neighborhood Elections seeking to invalidate most of the 100,000 names Count My Vote has gathered to get the initiative on the November ballot.
The group also claims Count My Vote workers violated state elections law in collecting signatures.
Count My Vote executive co-chairman Rich McKeown called SB54, sponsored by Sen. Curt Bramble, R-Provo, a "clever ploy" to disregard the voice of Utahns.
In the email, Romney said he's "quite surprised" the Legislature is supporting a bill that would "nullify in advance the Count My Vote proposal."
"It seems to me if voters use a constitutional process to formally demand a chance to vote on something, the Legislature shouldn't interfere. I'm especially surprised legislators would interfere with a ballot measure defining how they get elected. It smacks of self-interest and feels very wrong," Romney writes.
Bramble has called his bill a compromise and said there is broad support to change the candidate nomination process and increase voter participation.
"An interesting thing about this, if you look at people who support it, almost anyone who has ever been a governor or a member of Congress or senator or a state legislator, they want this change to be made," Leavitt said Sunday.

Actress Foluke Daramola’s Husband Opens Up On Why Ex- Wife Abandoned Their Marriage

Actress Foluke Daramola and hubby Kayode Salako are still trying to get people to understand their love and for the first time too, in a chat with CityPeople, Kayode revealed the actual reason, according to him, his ex wife left their marriage.
 Read excerpts below:

"I am granting this interview because I believe it is time for me to tell the world, why my ex wife decided to leave. That is the essence of this interview.
I want the whole world to know that Bukola did not leave me because of 3 things (1) that I am irresponsible (2) that Foluke used juju to drive her away (3) because members of my family wanted to kill her.
I need to give you a clear picture of what happened so that my wife can be free from that mess. I want to say that Bukola was the one who packed up the marriage and left. But I know it was a very painful decision for her.

Even before I met Foluke, the two of us have been discussing it. We have been thinking on how to go about it. Bukola did not enjoy that 13 years she lived with me, because I was treating one ailment or the other. She was always in and out of the hospital.

Why?

I don’t know. I don’t fall sick. I am AA blood group. Foluke is AA. She is AA. My ex-wife is AA. When you are AA you don’t have business with sickness. I am telling you that since I know myself to be a human being, I have never been to the hospital. Foluke has never fallen ill since I married her. In my family, we don’t fall sick and we have longevity.

In my ex-wife family too, they don’t die young. They don’t fall sick. But unfortunately she never enjoyed that 13 years because she was always falling sick. Today we will treat eye problem with excruciating pain. Tomorrow it will be ear, then teeth, then the back. It was always from one mysterious problem to another throughout the 13 years.

Even before I started my Fasholamania project that brought me to limelight. We have been going through all that. But how many people will I tell that outside. There was a time I slept in the hospital for almost 6 months. Even before she gave birth to my 3 boys I saw hell because from day I of the pregnancy, it was hell till she delivered. But one thing that is mysterious is that Bukola did not know the mystery behind her health problems in the marriage.

I, the husband was not falling sick. There was even a time, Bukola died in the hospital. She was certified died. About 20 minutes after she opened her eyes again and came back to life. You can go to Life center Hospital at Amore Street in Ikeja. The hospital is own by Redeemed Church. They can tell you our story there. How we always come in and out of there.

That hospital was not only our hospital. We had several hospitals. Sometimes I will have to rush my wife to the hospital at 1 am to 2 am at night when her health condition starts. So throughout all the 13 years, Bukola never enjoyed the marriage. It was so mysterious that I had to go out to consult some Pastors to pray.

Please take us back to when we first her (Foluke). How did you hit it off?

In a nice way. Foluke did not jump at me at first. At the time we met she was already preparing to leave Nigeria, to relocate to Canada. So she was only gathering money to travel with her children. She didn’t want to prostitute like other women. She is a principled person to the core. She does not believe in using sex to build a relationship. So she didn’t jump at me, in fact she gave me a hell of a problem. I was confused. I later understood her and we became friends. I think maybe I touched the better part of her heart, maybe from the subtle way I related with her. We used to talk a lot and we used to relate as friends.

I am like that too. I am 43 years old but I am young at heart.  I behave like a child. That is what got to Foluke. I was hanging around her like a natural friends, agelessly. I just discover that after a while Foluke started liking me unusually she started becoming drawn to me.  At the end of the day we became very good friends and she was even ready to be learning from me. She began to take my advice. At a time, she now saw me beyond just being friends. She now began to see me as an elder brother and a true companion and someone she could always count on. That was how the whole story started. We didn’t start by sleeping with each other.

What one Bukola Fasuyi was saying around last year was all fallacy. There was no truth in it. My own Foluke is not the kind of woman who needs to do juju to a man. That is not her orientation. She is a woman who believes in going to school to acquire more and more certificates. I have lived with Foluke for one year now and I can say she is the best thing that has happened to my life.

Right now, she has become a natural part of me. I am so used to her to the extent that I sometimes forget that I have lived with a woman before. We discussed everything. I live in her now and she lives in me. That is how we started it and that is what we have built it up to. So, I want to disabuse that public impression that my wife used juju to woo me. I want to say I am not that type of a man any woman can use juju to woo or snatch. Foluke knows the kind of person I am. Before she even tries it, I will  know.
